the existing victorian barn at howlands farm was converted to provide social and meeting spaces for the new graduate college.
as much of the existing structure and fabric was retained as possible in order to maintain the material and spacial qualities of the barn.
the main body of the space provides a bar and meeting room, whilst the cow byre is subdivided into support rooms, such as wc, laundry and kitchen.
this project was carried out by jacquie milham whilst at arup associates.
